Some technical schools and art schools offer two-year certificates that are more affordable than four-year colleges and universities. This type of schooling offers focused training only in your chosen field, rather than a general education that takes longer. Many of the same career options are available with a two-year certificate as from a four-year degree.

In this class you’ll explore careers in the fields of Multimedia/Visual Communications. Learn about graphic design, production, visual display, and presentation of material of all types (advertising, education, illustrative, etc.) using the media that best displays the illustration. You’ll study Principles of Art & Design and apply your knowledge throughout a variety of projects. You’ll develop your Visual Literacy and understand and apply Copyright and Ethical standards.
You’ll have the opportunity to builds skills in digital photography, animation, computerized graphics, video, audio, desktop publishing, methods of presentation, and create a portfolio of your work. Study emerging multimedia technologies such as podcasting, blogging, and web banners, and get acquainted with software programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Premiere.

You’ll explore careers in the field of Media Production while applying your knowledge to a variety of projects. You’ll develop your literacy of different genres in media, including creative, commercial, broadcast, and more. You will also gain an understanding of Copyright and Ethical standards relating to media production.
You’ll have an opportunity to create a portfolio of work and build skills using a variety of projects in emerging fields of media production, including digital music production, podcasting, video editing, and more. Work produced in this class will prepare you for advanced courses like Media & Journalism and Digital Storytelling.

Prepare yourself for Digital Storytelling by studying the art of media production. In this class you will analyze and examine different forms of media and gain a further understanding of Copyright and Ethical standards relating to media production. You will learn techniques for brainstorming and producing media, such as storyboarding and scriptwriting. Skills and knowledge gained in the course will prepare you for advanced audio and video production projects in the Digital Storytelling class.

Take your audio and video production skills to the next level. In this class, you’ll explore careers in the field of Media Production while applying your knowledge to a variety of advanced projects. You’ll have an opportunity to build an advanced vocabulary of different production techniques and equipment while making a variety of creative projects such as YouTube content, short films, podcasts, news broadcasts, sports journalism coverage, live music production, and more.
You’ll have an opportunity to create a portfolio of work and build skills using a variety of projects in emerging fields of media production. Work produced in this class will prepare you for advanced courses and a variety of collegiate and professional opportunities in the fields of media production.

Graphic design is the visual communication of ideas and information. Printmaking involves producing creative work using techniques including stencils, silk-screening, and linoleum block carving. Learn design and illustration to communicate and solve problems, and learn techniques of illustration for publication, label, logo, packaging design, posters, and signs. This is not a computer graphics course.

Audio Visual Tech gives students the opportunity to practice real-world skills in live sound and event production. Using state-of-the-art audio and video technology, students will run production for sporting events, school assemblies, music concerts, and more. This is a class for self-starters who thrive on unique challenges and are passionate about serving their community. Skills learned in this class will immediately prepare students for internships and employment opportunities in audio/visual production.
